Bonaire Evaporative Cooler Parts Guide: Bonaire and Celair Spare Parts Explained

This guide covers the Bonaire evaporative cooler parts that most often need replacing, the symptoms that point to each one, and how to find the right part for your cooler. Bonaire and Celair coolers come from the same Australian manufacturer (Climate Technologies), so most of the information here applies to both brands, and many Bonaire spare parts are shared across Bonaire, Celair and Climate Tech models.

First, find your Bonaire model number

Before ordering any part, find the model on your cooler’s compliance label (for example a VSS, VSM, VSL, SBS or Integra model) and, if possible, the part number printed on the old part. Pads in particular are sized to the cooler model, and pumps, valves and control boards changed over the years, so the model and part number are the quickest way to a correct match.

Water system parts

Bonaire cooler pump

If the fan runs but the pads stay dry, the pump is a likely culprit. Bonaire and Celair coolers commonly use Fasco JRM pumps: the JRM38 pump (6050812SP), JRM28 pump and JRM50 pump. Match the size on your old pump’s label. See Bonaire evaporative cooler pumps and our evaporative cooler pump guide.

Bonaire float valve and solenoid valves

Overflowing or a tank that won’t fill usually points to the Bonaire cistern ball float valve (6050916SP) or the 24V solenoid valve. Bonaire solenoids come with a dump/bleed fitting (6051636SP) or without (0080591SP), so check your old valve. The dial flow valve (6050904SP) adjusts water flow. Bonaire drain and dump valves

The drain system flushes salty water out of the tank. Depending on the model, Bonaire coolers use a simple dump valve (6001336SP), the Aquamiser drain valve (6051658SP) or the H2O Optimiser drain valve. Bonaire evaporative cooler pads

Bonaire coolers use rigid Celdek pads. Replace them when they are crusted with scale, crumbling, smelly or no longer wetting evenly. Sets include the small set for VSS50-55, the set for VSM45, VSM52 and VSM57, the medium set for VSM60-65 and the large set for VSM75 and VSL70-75, held in with Celdek clip and washer kits. Fan and motor parts

A cooler that won’t blow air, runs slowly or makes a humming or grinding noise may need a new fan motor, capacitor or fan collet. We stock Bonaire variable-speed fan motors in 600W, 750W and 950W sizes, plus capacitors such as the 15uF capacitor, the 1/2″ fan collet and the 9 blade impeller fan. Match the wattage and the details on your old motor’s label.

Controls and wall controllers

If the cooler doesn’t respond, shows a fault, or the controller screen is blank, the issue may be the wall controller, the wiring loom or the control board. Bonaire controllers include the Navigator RF wireless controller, the hardwired Navigator controller and the Slimline wall controller. Control boards include the TEK 600 board and the SBB/Integra II control board, and PCB upgrade kits are available for older PNE systems. Quick fault finder

• Warm air, dry pads: pump, water supply, float valve or solenoid.
• Water overflowing: float valve or solenoid stuck open.
• Tank won’t hold water: dump or drain valve.
• No airflow or weak airflow: fan motor, capacitor, fan collet or controller.
• Musty smell or poor cooling: old pads or a drain system that isn’t flushing.
• Controller blank or not responding: controller, loom or control board.

Safety first

Bonaire coolers are usually roof-mounted and connected to 240V power and mains water. Replacing motors, pumps, solenoids and control boards should be done by a qualified technician or licensed electrician, with the power isolated first.
